Bullying Has No Age Limit

ree

October is Bullying Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on a problem that affects people of all ages. Too often, we think of bullying as something that happens only in schools—on the playground, in classrooms, or through social media. While children are deeply impacted, the truth is that bullying doesn’t stop when we graduate. It follows many into adulthood, showing up in the workplace and beyond.

Bullying in Childhood

For kids, bullying can look like teasing, spreading rumors, exclusion, or physical intimidation. The damage goes beyond hurt feelings. It affects confidence, learning, and mental health. Children who are bullied often carry those scars for years.

Bullying in Adulthood

In the workplace, bullying may take the form of gossip, verbal abuse, deliberate exclusion from opportunities, or managers using power to intimidate. Unlike childhood bullying, the stakes can feel even higher—impacting careers, income, and emotional well-being.

Bullying Awareness Month reminds us that kindness, respect, and courage matter at every stage of life. Whether we’re teaching children how to treat others or building healthier workplaces, we all have a role in breaking the cycle.

Together, we can create environments where everyone—young or old—feels safe, valued, and empowered.

Stand up. Speak out. Stop bullying.
